WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?

 

Reflexology broken down into its basic parts, is made up of 'reflex', in this case meaning one part reflecting another part, and 'ology', meaning the study of.  Put together, reflexology means, the study of how one part relates to another part.  Reflexology is the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapy that connects the reflexive points of the feet and hands, to all the organs and meridians of the rest of the body.  

In other words, certain spots (or reflexes) on the feet and hands have an energy connection to other parts of your body.  By applying acupressure and massage like techniques to the feet and hands, you can positively affect all other body parts.

 

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REFLEXOLOGY?

 

Reflexology teaches that a vital energy, or life force, circulates between the organs of the body, permeating every living cell and tissue.  If this energy becomes blocked, the part of the body relating to the blockage is affected. Energy blocks in the human body are reflected on the hands and feet in one or more reflexes located there, and when these blocks interrupt the smooth flow of vital energy throughout the body, they can cause pain, disease, or whatever problems which require healing.  The pressure and massage techniques used in reflexology are designed to dissipate energy blocks.  Through stimulation of the circulatory and lymphatic systems, and by encouraging the release of toxins by breaking down energy blocks, reflexology promotes the body to heal itself.
